Nice! Love the blacked out look! I have a few Amazon recommendations that may help:

- If you’re looking to upgrade your Jeep Wrangler’s radio for Bluetooth connectivity, consider the AWESAFE Jeep Carplay Radio. This adds carplay or andriod auto and the cost is pretty good. I’ve put these in two of my Jeeps and (DIY Install) have been pleased with the performance. I’m not an audiophile so the output doesn’t matter as much to me:

If you’re looking to upgrade the light output on your ‘15 Jeep Wrangler, I highly recommend going with headlights over just bulbs. The stock headlights are notoriously bad, and replacing them can make a huge difference. I upgraded to the HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights and the improvement was incredible. They’re super bright and clear, making night driving much safer and more enjoyable. Just a heads up, they’re a bit more involved to install compared to some other options, but definitely worth it for the upgrade in performance!

If you’re looking for some solid all-weather mats for your 2011 JK Sahara, I highly recommend these Jeep Wrangler Floor Mats . I swapped out my Weather Tech mats for these, and I haven’t looked back. The fitment is spot-on, and they’re fantastic for dealing with snow and slush, which is a must in places like Minnesota. They pair perfectly with the Jeep Floor Mat - Cargo Liner for a cohesive look and excellent protection. Both are durable, high-quality, and definitely worth the investment if you want to “buy once, cry once.” You can check out more pictures and details on my blog post: Kiwi Master Jeep Floor Mats .

Hey there! Upgrading your Jeep’s stereo can be a bit of a head-scratcher at first, but it’s totally doable even if you’re new to it. You might be on the right track thinking about a can bus decoder for that missing sound issue. If you’re considering an upgrade, I’d recommend checking out the Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 . It’s a fantastic upgrade over the stock UConnect system and adds CarPlay, which is a huge plus in my book.

I totally get it, the wiring can seem intimidating, but there’s a great walkthrough video that helped me a lot when I was in the same situation. If you’re not feeling confident tackling it yourself, local shops like Best Buy can do the installation for you. Plus, if you’re thinking of adding a backup camera, it’s the perfect time to do it. Good luck with your project!

Adding a backup cam was a game changer — especially with the tire in the way. I followed this install video and it made the whole process easier than I expected. If you’re looking for a straightforward solution, you might want to check out the Universal Back up Camera Spare tire Bracket . It should fit nicely with the 430 NAV radio in your ‘15 JKU. Another option to consider is the Dashcam Rearview Mirror . It’s a super easy way to add both a dashcam and backup recording to your vehicle, as long as you’re comfortable with a bit of DIY wiring. Good luck with your install!

Yep - my spare tire spokes were oddly shaped so I needed an additional bracket, but looks like you have the standard wheel - you’ll have to take the spare off but I followed that one video to the t and it was smooth. For the tire mount you’ll likely need a camera mount bracket - I used this one: https://amzn.to/3DgvVZM - some people do it on the bumper, or off the license plate, but I like the field of view from the tire, and it was eaiser to weave through.

niice - and you’ve got the relocation kit for the side views, that’s one of my favorite mods. Makes is easier to take the doors off and go. I think these few mods would fit your jeep nicely:

Handlebars Amazon Affiliate Link Tucked up out of the way yet still useful.

JK- Hood Latches Amazon Affiliate Link Prevent hood flutter on the highway - those rubber straps wear out over time.

Gas Cap Cover Amazon Affiliate Link Jeep left the gas cap accessible by design, as a call back to the days when soliders needed to refeul quickly. This provides a way to protect the cap like more modern vehicles. It also has option for locking vs pseudo locking

AWESAFE Radio Amazon Affiliate Link If you want to add carplay without breaking the bank, these fit really well in the JK console. In terms of good audio quality there are better options, but this does seem to push sound a little better than the stock option. mostly plug and play and if you don’t have a backup cam its easy to add.

Minnesota here, and the heat has been impacted neekid season a little for me too. Since I have hard top and I don’t want to deal with that on the daily, I tried out two options to get relief from the sun. [This one] (https://www.jconnector.io/products/jeep-mesh-bikini-top/ ) is a mesh covering and attaches with bungies. I liked the coverage and look of this option, but it was a bit futzy with the bungees and it brushed the top of my head. It was not flappy on the highway. (I’m 6’ 2’’ torso tall). I returned it and tried this one , which I am really happy with so far. It has attached straps, and is really easy to throw on. Its even just nice to have in its carrying bag in the back so if you are getting too hot or burned, you can pull over and throw it on. The Joytus one is a little flappy on the highway, I may not have it sinched in enough, but its not so bad.

Jeeps, particularly the 2007–2018 models, can be fantastic with the right care and a few mods. If you’re considering a slightly older model to save some bucks, you can definitely upgrade them to look and feel more modern.

Here are some mods that I personally recommend for anyone with a Jeep JK or JKU:

  • HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights can be quite lacking, so this is one of the first upgrades I’d suggest. They’re not entirely plug-and-play but definitely worth the effort for the improved visibility.

  • Jeep - Antennae : If you find the stock antenna too bulky, this is an easy swap. Just be cautious during installation to avoid any scratches.

  • Jeep Gas Cap Cover : This not only looks great but also adds a bit of security. Installation can be a bit tricky, but it’s manageable with some patience.

  • Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : A great upgrade from the rubber straps that helps eliminate hood flutter. They look sleek and are fairly easy to install.

  • Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : Adding CarPlay can really enhance the driving experience, especially if you’re used to modern tech in vehicles.

These modifications can greatly enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of your Jeep, making it a joy to drive while addressing some of the common concerns. Happy Jeeping!

Jeeps are fun! If you are looking at older ones there are some mods that can make them feel more modern:

  • Jeep Wrangler Grab Handles 07-18 : These grab handles, AKA ‘Oh Sh*t’ bars, are one of the first things I add to my Jeeps. They’re super easy to install and are placed just right for easy access.

  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 : The stock headlights on older Wranglers can be pretty dim. These plug-and-play headlights are a great upgrade and even have an ‘in light’ turn signal feature.

  • Jeep - Antennae : If you like a sleek look, this stubby antenna is a nice touch. Just be careful during installation to avoid scratching the Jeep.

  • 50 Pack Rubber Ducks : This is a fun tradition among Jeep owners. Spot a Jeep you like? Leave a rubber duck on it to spread some Jeepin’ cheer.

Hope this helps ease your mind a bit. Enjoy the adventure with your new Wrangler!

  • Jeep Wrangler Grab Handles 07-18 - These grab handles will provide a secure grip when navigating difficult terrain, making the experience safer and more enjoyable. The installation is easy and they are placed in a convenient location.
  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 - Upgrading to better headlights will improve visibility during nighttime trail runs, which can be crucial when traveling alone on an unfamiliar trail. These headlights are plug and play for a straightforward installation.
  • Jeep Wrangler JK Carplay Radio 2007 - A CarPlay radio will allow the user to connect their phone wirelessly, providing GPS navigation and entertainment during their trip. This can be particularly useful when traveling on trails where cell service may be limited.
  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 (for a second pair of headlights if they wish to install auxiliary lights for improved visibility and safety during nighttime trail runs.)

It sounds like you’ve come across a pretty solid deal, especially given the immaculate condition and recent engine work. The 2016 model benefits from the more reliable 3.6L engine, which has proven to be a workhorse for many Jeep enthusiasts. If you’re planning to use it as a second car and only add about 5k miles per year, it should serve you well for quite a while.

To make the most out of your potential Jeep Wrangler, here are some mods that can modernize your ride and enhance your driving experience:

  • HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : Upgrading the stock headlights is usually one of the first things I recommend. These headlights provide much better visibility at night and are a straightforward upgrade.

  • Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : These latches eliminate the common ‘hood flutter’ problem and give your Wrangler a more modern JL look. They’re easy to install and make a noticeable difference.

  • Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : If you’re used to the convenience of CarPlay, this stereo upgrade over UConnect is a game-changer. It adds modern functionality to your dash.

  • Jeep Gas Cap Cover : Not only does this cover look great, but it also adds an extra layer of security. It’s a bit of a project to install, but the result is worth it.

  • Jeep - Antennae : If you like a sleeker look, swapping out the stock antenna for a shorter one is a quick and easy mod. Just be cautious during installation to avoid any scratches.

These upgrades can breathe new life into your Wrangler and make it feel more current. Enjoy the ride!

It sounds like you’re feeling a bit over the duck trend with Jeeps. If you want to focus on some practical upgrades instead, here are a few mods I’ve personally found useful for my Jeep:

  • Jeep Wrangler Grab Handles 07-18 : These are a must for any Jeep owner. They’re easy to install and perfectly placed for a sturdy grip.
  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 : The stock headlights can be a bit underwhelming. These are easy to install and offer a much better light output.
  • Jeep - Antennae : A simple mod that gives a unique look. Just be careful during installation to avoid any scratches.
  • Jeep Wrangler JK Carplay Radio 2007 : Adding CarPlay to my Jeep was a game-changer. It’s easy to install and keeps you connected on the road.
  • 50 Pack Rubber Ducks : If you still want to join in on the duck fun, this pack is perfect for sharing the love with fellow Jeep owners.

Hope this helps you enjoy your Jeep more, whether you’re into the trends or just want to make some cool upgrades!

If you’re looking to upgrade your Wrangler JK with Apple CarPlay without breaking the bank, I totally get where you’re coming from. I was in the same spot a while back and found that going with a reliable option like the Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 made a world of difference. It’s a fantastic upgrade over UConnect, and having CarPlay is a game-changer for both convenience and safety.

Installation might seem daunting at first, but trust me, it’s totally doable even if you’re a first-timer. I found watching a good walkthrough video like this one really helpful. Just take your time, and you’ll be fine. And if you’re considering adding a backup camera, now’s a great time to do it.

Of course, if you’re not comfortable with the wiring, local shops like Best Buy can handle the installation for you. Good luck with the upgrade!

If you’re leaning towards the Jeep for its cost-effectiveness, I totally get it! I’ve owned a 2007 JK Wrangler and now a 2015 JK Unlimited Wrangler Sahara, and I can’t say enough about how customizable these vehicles are. The 3.6L engine is a solid choice for daily driving with enough power for weekend adventures.

For the 2-door JL, lots of freeway driving shouldn’t be too much of an issue, especially if you’re used to a sports car. Just keep an eye on the basic maintenance, and you should be good to go.

If you do end up with a Jeep and are looking to mod it, here are a few upgrades that I find enhance the experience:

  • Jeep - Antennae : An easy install if you want a sleeker look, but keep in mind it might not catch signals as well as the stock one.
  • Jeep Gas Cap Cover : This adds a bit of rugged style and is pretty straightforward to install, just be careful with the clips!
  • HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : I always recommend updating the headlights. These are a bit more involved to install but totally worth it for better visibility.
  • Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : If you ever consider an older model, these are a great way to modernize the look and eliminate hood flutter.

Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know if you have more questions about Jeeps or mods. 😊

If you’re leaning towards a 2015 Sahara Unlimited, you’re in good company! I’ve owned a 2015 JK Unlimited Wrangler Sahara, and it’s been a fantastic ride. The 4-door option offers a longer wheelbase, which definitely helps with stability on those tight curves and hills you mentioned. Plus, the 3.6L engine from that era is solid and reliable.

For those snowy Northern New Jersey winters, you might want to consider some upgrades that can enhance your driving experience and safety:

  1. HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights on Wranglers are notoriously weak. Upgrading to these can make a significant difference when navigating those icy roads.

  2. Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : These are a great upgrade from the rubber straps. They not only look better but also eliminate hood flutter, which is something I found particularly useful on windy days.

  3. Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : If you do a lot of highway driving, this stereo upgrade can enhance your drive with CarPlay, making your commute more enjoyable.

  4. Jeep - Antennae : A shorter antenna is a simple mod that maintains good radio reception while giving your Jeep a sleeker look.

  5. Jeep Gas Cap Cover : This is more about aesthetics, but I love how it adds a rugged look to the Jeep. Plus, it’s a relatively easy install once you get those clips out.

These mods can help modernize your Jeep and enhance your driving experience. If you feel comfortable in a Wrangler, that’s a huge plus. They might not be the smoothest on plowed roads with ice and slush, but with the right tires and some weight in the back, you’ll be much better off than with your Passat. Happy Jeep hunting!

If you’re going for a Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver, I totally get the appeal! It’s a classic and a lot of fun to drive, even if you’re not planning to hit the trails. Here are a few mods that I personally found to be great additions:

  • Jeep Wrangler Grab Handles 07-18 : These are super handy for getting in and out, especially if you have kids. Easy to install and feel really sturdy.

  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 : The stock headlights can be pretty dim, so these are a great upgrade for better visibility, plus they’re really simple to install.

  • Jeep - Antennae : This is a quick swap that gives a sleeker look, and it works well with local stations.

  • Jeep Wrangler JK Carplay Radio 2007 : If you’re into tech, this radio upgrade is fantastic. It fits perfectly and adds CarPlay, which is super convenient.

  • 50 Pack Rubber Ducks : Just for fun! If you want to get into the Jeep community spirit, these ducks are a quirky way to make connections.

If it is your first time installing, the wiring may seem a bit daunting at first, but it is totally doable! I found two videos extremely helpful in going over the process:

General Wiring plug video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj8b_JqO1DQ&t=7s

In the first part the guy goes over how the harness is plugged in - I would also recommend spending a while familiarizing yourself with the harness and the components. In the second part they show how to remove the panels and swap out the units.

Note - this system comes with a backup camera - so if you don’t have one, here is your chance! The wiring under the trim is a little nuanced, but if you hang with it it is way easier to do on a Jeep than other cars.

This is a really great video on how to install - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjk9JqrqtnY

Note - in this video he talks about posi-tap the rear light, you don’t have to do that with the AWESAFE - just connect the red wire off the video to the red wire on the camera with a butt connector and your good to go.

After watching those if you feel like it’s in your wheel house go for it! - if not, you may be able to buy the radio and have a local shop (best buy, etc) install it for you, maybe call em up.

I was in the same boat - I got a mazda 6 because it was the right economic choice, but whenever I travel I would try to rent a Jeep, and every time it was the car for me. I can’t really describe it but something about just clicks for me. I’m a taller guy and I fit better. The way it rides the road just feels, better. Just getting around man!
The route I went was to get a used JK, 2007 or later just to get into the game, and it helps if you have a partner that can have the ‘good on gas’ car. Then you can make short trips around town in the Jeep and have something more sendiable for raod trips. Especially anything after 2012 as those have the pentastar 3.6 which is a better sized engine. The nice thing about these there are lot of mods you can do yourself to make them feel more modern - which I’ll share below. That way you have something you can drive many years without feeling the tech decline (carplay, etc). I’m currently in a 2015 Sahara, and plan on driving it for the next 5 years or so and then see how the 4xes are holding up. I would really like my next Jeep to be electric, but it might still be a ways off before its feasible.

  • Jeep - Antennae : This is a super easy install. Just be careful when removing the old one, as it’s a counterclockwise turn.
  • Jeep Gas Cap Cover : I installed this in my 2015 Jeep JKU, and it looks awesome! It adds a bit of style to your Wrangler.
  • HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights on JKs are notoriously bad, but these are a great upgrade. Not quite plug-and-play, but worth it.
  • Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : These eliminate ‘hood flutter’ and are easy to install. They give your JK a nice JL-style upgrade.
  • Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : This is a fantastic upgrade for connectivity and usability over the standard UConnect system. You can also install a backup camera with this kit.

Hey there! It sounds like you’re making an exciting choice with the Jeep Wrangler. Having driven a 2015 JK Unlimited Wrangler Sahara myself, I can attest to how fun and versatile they are, especially when it comes to mods. If you’re looking to enhance the safety and performance of your Jeep in those Wisconsin winters, here are a few upgrades you might consider:

  1. HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights on Jeeps are notoriously dim, especially in snowy and foggy conditions. Upgrading to these headlights can significantly improve visibility, which is crucial for those long winter drives.

  2. Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : High winds during snowstorms can cause the hood to flutter. These hood latches eliminate that issue and are easy to install. Plus, they give your JK a modern JL-style look!

  3. Jeep Gas Cap Cover : While it’s more of a style upgrade, a locking gas cap can add a layer of security and looks awesome. It’s not difficult to install—just be careful with the clips.

  4. Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : If you’re planning long drives, having CarPlay can be a game-changer for navigation and entertainment.

  5. Jeep - Antennae : A short antenna can be a simple mod to prevent any damage from low branches or during off-roading. Just be careful during installation to avoid any scratches.

These upgrades can enhance both the functionality and the safety of your Jeep, giving you and your parents peace of mind on those winter roads. Enjoy your Jeep adventure! 😊

Congrats on deciding to join the Jeep family! For commuting and small family trips, a 2015 or older JK Wrangler could be a great choice. The 3.6L engine from post-2012 models is known for its reliability and there are tons of QOL mods to make it feel more modern and personalized.

Here are some mods I’ve personally enjoyed:

  1. HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights on older models can be a bit lacking. These are a great upgrade to improve visibility, although they aren’t quite plug-and-play.

  2. Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : Adding CarPlay was one of the best decisions I made. It’s a huge upgrade over the stock UConnect system.

  3. Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : These eliminate the ‘hood flutter’ that can be annoying during drives and give your Jeep a modern look. They’re easy to install, though I removed the spring for better functionality.

  4. Jeep Gas Cap Cover : I upgraded to this in my 2015 Jeep, and it looks awesome. Installation can be a bit tricky with the clips, but it’s definitely worth it.

  5. Jeep - Antennae : A simple mod that’s easy to install. While the reception isn’t as good as the stock, it still works fine for local stations.

These mods can really breathe new life into a JK and make it functionally and aesthetically closer to a newer JL model. Enjoy the ride, and welcome to the Jeep community!

Congrats on the upcoming kiddo! Seems like you have a lot of great options to consider. Based on your love for modding and tinkering with your vehicles, you might find the Jeep Wrangler to be a cool choice. They’re practically built for personal customization.

I’ve done a few mods on mine and these are some of the products I’ve had a good experience with:

I have a vendetta against the EGO snow shovel attachment - its way too heavy and it makes a crappy chore even crappier. I would only recommend it if it was for a small area like a deck or small sidewalk. I upgraded to the EGO 2 stage and not looking back :) https://www.jconnector.io/posts/egosnowblower/

I’ve been happy with EGO so far this winter, but I try to add chains to it to help with the slope. The EGo doesnt slow itself down going down hill but so far Ive learned to let off the ‘gas’ and let gravity do its thang.

Here is my current loadout:
