Nice! Love the blacked out look! I have a few Amazon recommendations that may help:

- If you’re looking to upgrade your Jeep Wrangler’s radio for Bluetooth connectivity, consider the AWESAFE Jeep Carplay Radio. This adds carplay or andriod auto and the cost is pretty good. I’ve put these in two of my Jeeps and (DIY Install) have been pleased with the performance. I’m not an audiophile so the output doesn’t matter as much to me:

- To keep the stock mirrors when you take the door off - check out this mirror relocation kit:

Yep - my spare tire spokes were oddly shaped so I needed an additional bracket, but looks like you have the standard wheel - you’ll have to take the spare off but I followed that one video to the t and it was smooth. For the tire mount you’ll likely need a camera mount bracket - I used this one: https://amzn.to/3DgvVZM - some people do it on the bumper, or off the license plate, but I like the field of view from the tire, and it was eaiser to weave through.

Oh Shit handles: I have had two jeeps now and this is one of the first things I add. The install is easy and the placement of the bar is in just the right place. I prefer these over the ones that attach to the door frame and hang down.

niice - and you’ve got the relocation kit for the side views, that’s one of my favorite mods. Makes is easier to take the doors off and go. I think these few mods would fit your jeep nicely:

Handlebars Amazon Affiliate Link Tucked up out of the way yet still useful.

JK- Hood Latches Amazon Affiliate Link Prevent hood flutter on the highway - those rubber straps wear out over time.

Gas Cap Cover Amazon Affiliate Link Jeep left the gas cap accessible by design, as a call back to the days when soliders needed to refeul quickly. This provides a way to protect the cap like more modern vehicles. It also has option for locking vs pseudo locking

AWESAFE Radio Amazon Affiliate Link If you want to add carplay without breaking the bank, these fit really well in the JK console. In terms of good audio quality there are better options, but this does seem to push sound a little better than the stock option. mostly plug and play and if you don’t have a backup cam its easy to add.

  • Jeep Wrangler Grab Handles 07-18 - These grab handles will provide a secure grip when navigating difficult terrain, making the experience safer and more enjoyable. The installation is easy and they are placed in a convenient location.
  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 - Upgrading to better headlights will improve visibility during nighttime trail runs, which can be crucial when traveling alone on an unfamiliar trail. These headlights are plug and play for a straightforward installation.
  • Jeep Wrangler JK Carplay Radio 2007 - A CarPlay radio will allow the user to connect their phone wirelessly, providing GPS navigation and entertainment during their trip. This can be particularly useful when traveling on trails where cell service may be limited.
  • Jeep Headlights 07-18 (for a second pair of headlights if they wish to install auxiliary lights for improved visibility and safety during nighttime trail runs.)

I’m running these with the amber turn signal baked in my 2007 JK - it really upgraded the front end without breaking the bank. One thing with any of these is to calibrate them so you don’t blind people on the road.

If it is your first time installing, the wiring may seem a bit daunting at first, but it is totally doable! I found two videos extremely helpful in going over the process:

General Wiring plug video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj8b_JqO1DQ&t=7s

In the first part the guy goes over how the harness is plugged in - I would also recommend spending a while familiarizing yourself with the harness and the components. In the second part they show how to remove the panels and swap out the units.

Note - this system comes with a backup camera - so if you don’t have one, here is your chance! The wiring under the trim is a little nuanced, but if you hang with it it is way easier to do on a Jeep than other cars.

This is a really great video on how to install - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjk9JqrqtnY

Note - in this video he talks about posi-tap the rear light, you don’t have to do that with the AWESAFE - just connect the red wire off the video to the red wire on the camera with a butt connector and your good to go.

After watching those if you feel like it’s in your wheel house go for it! - if not, you may be able to buy the radio and have a local shop (best buy, etc) install it for you, maybe call em up.

I was in the same boat - I got a mazda 6 because it was the right economic choice, but whenever I travel I would try to rent a Jeep, and every time it was the car for me. I can’t really describe it but something about just clicks for me. I’m a taller guy and I fit better. The way it rides the road just feels, better. Just getting around man!
The route I went was to get a used JK, 2007 or later just to get into the game, and it helps if you have a partner that can have the ‘good on gas’ car. Then you can make short trips around town in the Jeep and have something more sendiable for raod trips. Especially anything after 2012 as those have the pentastar 3.6 which is a better sized engine. The nice thing about these there are lot of mods you can do yourself to make them feel more modern - which I’ll share below. That way you have something you can drive many years without feeling the tech decline (carplay, etc). I’m currently in a 2015 Sahara, and plan on driving it for the next 5 years or so and then see how the 4xes are holding up. I would really like my next Jeep to be electric, but it might still be a ways off before its feasible.

  • Jeep - Antennae : This is a super easy install. Just be careful when removing the old one, as it’s a counterclockwise turn.
  • Jeep Gas Cap Cover : I installed this in my 2015 Jeep JKU, and it looks awesome! It adds a bit of style to your Wrangler.
  • HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights : The stock headlights on JKs are notoriously bad, but these are a great upgrade. Not quite plug-and-play, but worth it.
  • Hood Latches - JL Style for JK : These eliminate ‘hood flutter’ and are easy to install. They give your JK a nice JL-style upgrade.
  • Jeep Wrangler JKU CarPlay Stereo 2015 : This is a fantastic upgrade for connectivity and usability over the standard UConnect system. You can also install a backup camera with this kit.

Congrats on your new ride! To get Apple CarPlay and a backup camera installed, I’d personally recommend the AWESAFE Jeep Car Radio Stereo Upgrade 2GB+64GB [ https://amzn.to/3DqpN0T ]. I was in your shoes, wanting to add CarPlay to my Jeep, and this thing has been a dream. The price is way more reasonable than going for a brand name unit or professional installation. As for Jeep etiquette, you’re spot on with the wave! It’s a fun little tradition among us Jeep folks - personally I’ll wave at anything with 7 slots but some people just wave wrangler to wrangler. And with regular maintenance, your Jeep should last you a good while. Enjoy the ride!

Congrats on the upcoming kiddo! Seems like you have a lot of great options to consider. Based on your love for modding and tinkering with your vehicles, you might find the Jeep Wrangler to be a cool choice. They’re practically built for personal customization.

I’ve done a few mods on mine and these are some of the products I’ve had a good experience with:

  • Jeep Wrangler JK Soft Top. Mine fit perfectly with my existing OEM frame. Had a minor issue with a couple of leaky spots, but some extra rags took care of that easily. Had to replace a window once, but overall I’m pretty happy with it. Link here

  • If you love a solid sound system, consider the AWESAFE Jeep Car Radio Stereo Upgrade. It has 2GB+64GB, integrated perfectly with my Jeep, and added the Carplay feature I wanted without breaking the bank. Link here

  • The Dashcam Rearview Mirror adds both a dashcam and backup recording to your vehicle. Installation was a breeze for me as long as you’re okay with peeling back a bit of trim and pushing the wires in. Link here

I have a vendetta against the EGO snow shovel attachment - its way too heavy and it makes a crappy chore even crappier. Like someone else said for ice, salt will be needed to help it melt. but you want to clear the snow first so it doesn’t create a worse mess. (snow melts onto the ice and compounds the problem - we want dry ass pavements) I recently got an electric ego snowblower, but I’m in minnesota so I needed a two stage - my current setup is on my blog :

Note - the handheld shovel blowers I have a vendetta against, I would never recommend those unless you have a small deck or sidewalk. They are waaaay too heavy and for older folks I think end up being more hurtful than helpful.

I just got an EGO and it works great for my needs. My driveway is not huge but it is hilly, I need something to deal with plow ridge as well, here is my loadout: https://www.jconnector.io/posts/egosnowblower/

probably for your driveway, you’d need bigger batteries to get the job done. I listed the 7.5ah ones here but they make higher capacity ones better suited for larger jobs. The battery cost can be quite high still on these, but I certainly love not messing with gas on snowy says anymore.

Reddit Comment on r/Snowblowers

electric is probably out - you;d have to have stock of batteries ready to go - at any time.
I just got an EGO (blog link ) and two 7.5 ah batteries last about 25% to get my driveway done. You’d need like 8 batteries at least - which is about $2400 + snow blower $849 + two chargers $60 = $3309~ It is nice to not have gas in the equation but not sure the commercial viability. :)

Agree - go with two stage - and maybe consider an electric? don’t have to deal with gas and are a bit lighter than gas. The batteries is where is gets spendy but I think it’s worth it not to have deal with gas:

Sounds like an epic trip you guys are planning! Since it’s your first overlanding trip, having a solid stereo system for the long drives is a good idea. Check out the AWESAFE Jeep Car Radio Stereo Upgrade 2GB+64GB [https://amzn.to/3DqpN0T]. It adds Carplay to your Jeep, which I found super handy. But fair warning, the installation might be a bit pricey if you don’t DIY.

If you want to have a back-up recording of your trip, maybe consider the Dashcam Rearview Mirror [https://amzn.to/3DuMuB4]. It’s easy to install as long as you’re comfortable peeling back trim and pushing wires in.

And for those late-night drives through the forests, upgrading your Jeep’s headlights is a pretty good move. The HWStar Jeep Wrangler Headlights [https://amzn.to/4fJMYAE] have worked really well for me. They are relatively straightforward to install, although maybe not as plug-and-play as other headlights. Have a blast on your trip!
