If you’ve been thinking about adding Apple CarPlay and a backup camera to your Jeep Wrangler, but you’ve never installed a car stereo before — don’t worry, this upgrade is 100% beginner-friendly.
I went with the AWESAFE Jeep Car Radio Stereo Upgrade (2GB+64GB), and I’ve been seriously impressed. The unit feels premium, the CarPlay works flawlessly, and the install is easier than you’d expect — especially for something that completely transforms your driving experience.

Helpful Install Videos
The wiring might look intimidating at first, but a couple of key videos made the process surprisingly manageable:
General wiring & harness walkthrough
This one goes over how the harness plugs in and gives a solid overview of the components you’ll be working with.Full stereo install tutorial
This video covers panel removal, stereo swap, and everything in between. One tip — the video talks about using Posi-taps for the reverse wire, but with the AWESAFE unit, you can just butt-connect the red wire from the video feed to the red wire on the camera.
Backup Camera Mounting
The system comes with a backup camera, which is awesome — no need to source one separately. Reference the 2nd video above for a really good detailing of how to run the wiring. I mounted mine through the spare tire using a bracket, which gave the best field of view and a clean look. https://amzn.to/3DgvVZM
If you’re not into wiring or don’t have tools, you could always pick up the unit and bring it to a local shop — but honestly, if you’re even a little bit handy, this is one of those DIY upgrades that feels super satisfying when you finish.
This is one of the easiest wins I’ve had for modernizing my Jeep without spending a fortune. Highly recommend.
